Aix-en-Provence has long been a university town and a city of the arts, and the streets are filled with students from all corners of the globe. The most famous resident of the Aix was the great painter Paul Cezanne, whose studio is still preserved.

The city has a warm climate, with an average January temperature of 41 F., and a July average of 72 F., and Aix is blessed with an average of 300 days of sunshine a year.

Aix-en-Provence is only about 15 miles north of Marseilles and its international airport.
